Macro Photography

This is a photo of a starfruit seed. I used a LED light to provide enough light for this picture. I added contrast and boosted the color yellow in the image to make the fruit look better.

This is the fabric of a chair that I thought had a unique way of stitching. I used just window light to have enough light for the image. I just adjusted contrast and brightness.

This is a habenero with a lime in the background. The white dots in the water drop is the LED light i used to light this image.

This is my favorite image that i took. It is the surface of a kiwi that i used lights to backlight. I really enjoyed the repetition that the lights created and the small dots that you can see on the drop of water.

Perspective of Twelve

I merged these two images by laying the texture on the bottom and then simply erasing the white background behind the camera to reveal the metal texture.

Depth of Field

This is an image of an Edison bulb that I have and it was just sitting on my desk. I only boosted the contrast ever so slightly.

Shutter Speed- 1/80                                                                                                                                     ISO- 400                                                                                                                                                               F/stop- 5.6

This is a fountain in Salt Lake City, Utah. Edits I made were I increased the contrast, clarity, and lowered the shadows to build a higher contrast.

Shutter Speed- 1/8000                                                                                                                                     ISO- 100                                                                                                                                                    F/stop- 2.8

This is a home in Rexburg, Idaho. I wanted to give this a very eerie and unnatural feeling. The edits i made were i decreased the vibrancy and saturation and then boosted the clarity.

Shutter Speed- 6 Seconds                                                                                                                             ISO- 400                                                                                                                                                   F/stop- 22

These are just a pair of railroad tracks I found. I lowered the whites and highlights because the sky was blown out. I also boosted the contrast.

Shutter Speed- 6 Seconds                                                                                                                               ISO- 400                                                                                                                                                     F/stop- 22

Shutter Speed- 1/5000                                                                                                                            F/stop- 5.6                                                                                                                                                    ISO- 400

This image is of Jell-O bouncing off of a white plate with a white background. Edits made were I painted the background white at a twenty five percent opacity to hide the lines where the floor and background met. I also adjusted the hue because the Jell-O was orange and didn’t look great.

Shutter Speed- 1/1000                                                                                                                                 F/stop- 1.8                                                                                                                                                             ISO- 200

This image was taken in the Hyrum Manwaring Student Center. I left the shutter open for a long time to be able to get the blurred effect. I changed the temperature of the image to create a situation more true to the lighting of the building. I also boosted the contrast just a little bit.

Shutter Speed- 4 Seconds                                                                                                                         F/stop- 29                                                                                                                                                     ISO- 100

Photobook Design

This is a spread for my photobook I am designing. I like simple boxes which is why I chose to create these simple image boxes. The logo is is a mix of my initials and it fits my design motif. I like the concept of creating images that are well balanced.

Hello Everyone, My Name is Nathan Fleming and I am from Gilbert, Arizona. I am a huge fan of music, cars, and photography. I have been doing photography since my sophomore year of high school in 2009.

I love photojournalism but I love being able to tap into my artistic side and see what I can create with my photography. I have been able to grow my photography skills when I joined The Scroll here at BYU-I. I am excited to show you what I have been able to do with my photography.
