Project 1: Flier

p1aNathanFLeming

  1. Description: A black and white flier about a leadership conference for recent graduates.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I started by drawing multiple sketches of what I wanted. As I started working in InDesign one of my sketches started coming to life as I created the layout. Once I put in the text I began to rearrange the layout to fit everything. Once I finished my rough draft I had three people critique and help fine tune my design. After the critiques I made a few minor changes and ended up with my final project.
  3. Message: The message I am trying to send is the importance of leadership and where people can learn how to become leaders.
  4. Audience: My audience is recent college graduates age 19-26 that are in business or other professional careers.
  5. Top Thing Learned: Repeat key design aspects.
  6. Title Font Name & Category: Oswald-San Serif
  7. Copy Font Name & Category: Minion Pro-Old Style

  1. Nathan, I really like this project. I think you have good usage of white space which creates a better flow. I also like the repetition with the gray rectangles and even adding a black one in there. I like how you put the date, time and place off to the side because it catches attention and that is an important thing for people to see. Great job! https://andreakovacs47.wordpress.com/2016/05/07/project-1-flier/ here is my project and here is another great one. https://hashtaghomie.wordpress.com/2016/05/06/flyer-project/

  2. Nathan– first of all, your photography on your blog is fantastic! Second, I love the alignment in your flier. The clean lines and white space are really pleasing to look at. I like the gray box behind the first line of text; it really makes your message clear and the words stand out. I also love the contrast of the word “leadership” in white on the black background. Nicely done! Taylor’s blog also had clean alignment: https://taylorstevensblog.wordpress.com/2016/05/08/project-1-flier/
